and please excuse my broken dutch. i think i understand most of it (with the confident arrogance (or was it arrogant confidence?) of a niederrheiner coming ‘uit de buurt van venlo’) but i never really practised speaking let alone writing it…
It was a pleasure to wander througtout this small Flemish town, where I had been already a thousands times before.
(P.s. the tower is a Flemish symbol of the desperate looking for peace, after World War 1, but its meaning is ambiguous just the way catholic Flanders is)…
