Great atmosphere in these shots
Thanks for the compliment. Flemish public space is a never ending flood of inspiration to me; it’s never boring to me. Although my pictures might be annoying for some local politicians, art experts and urban planners. The only problem is : making pictures is almost an addiction, which takes too much time and energy.
One must follow ones passion!
Lovely photos and not so bad places either!
I must have a bad character, always showing the non-attractive elements of a lovely region in Flanders. And I’m too old and experienced to change my view…
Come over to check Flanders; I’ll chase the Germans for a while, since I understood in Greece you’re not too crazy about them…?
The memories from WWII are still fresh. But it is not the people, but the politicians and the interests hidding behind them, so do not chase them ! 😉 If I had the money to come I would have! It looks like such a nice place to be!
I live in a fabulous country. But I’m always prepared to negociate for an exchange.
I’m not sure why the villages should be avoided?
They seem perfectly normal….. real to me.
Avoiding places : my visual displeasure is based on feelings of astonishment, when I’m cycling across the Flemish country. I find almost nothing of classic beauty and this makes me ironic. Some say: cynical. Avoiding places means: don’t go there if you’re looking for academic beauty. But I’m pleased to consider my astonishment as a quest for more than simple photographic topics. My fuji x100 is a non-discomfort in this searching.
I think the history of photography is scattered with the work of ‘Masters’ whose work concentrated on less than ‘classic beauty’ – yet their work is sort after and it’s can be as emotive as a more pictorial image.
