I don’t know the architect personally – fortunately not, I’d say.
But in my Catholic country, where almost everything is ambiguous, this kind of soulless architecture, focused on the purely individual, can thrive perfectly. ‘Catholic’, I don’t mean just the traditional religion, but the whole spirituality hidden under this label. Outward neatness, but behind the scenes, for an outsider like me, it is a great ‘discovery’. I used a different word at first, but I don’t want to hurt a sincere Catholic fellow human being. I certainly don’t want to sow hatred, but it’s balancing between objectively verifiable reality and expressing my findings. The psalmist has already described this feeling much better and more universally; I try to express this with some daily images…
None of us re perfect. And lots have happened to the faith and church thru the reorder of people. It would seem better to prayerfully come together than to accusingly reject🤔
I fully understand you, especially when you point to our collective imperfection and propose a kind of joint prayer strategy as a solution. But I use the word ‘Catholic’ rather in a figurative sense, as a metaphor for Flemish society and its underlying, hidden structures. As a photographer I am confronted on a daily basis with the external characteristics of this ideology of the individual; as a Christian I feel this pain in a particularly emotional way. At my weakest moments I only see the emptiness that reigns in my country. To look beyond it would be stupidity and sin. Pointing it out results in a silent but efficient form of ignoring. Without going into too much detail, I can tell you that, as a child, I have learned to show far too much respect for people who, as it turns out, are vulgar but unpunished criminals, despite the proven facts. Many compatriots will understand what I mean. All this makes it a little more difficult to pray together. I read psalm 112 and at least I find a form of aha-erlebnis.
Praying together is also a subliminal, ongoing occurrence. I hear and understand exactly what you are saying but Christians, wisemen who are spiritually inclined should have or seek insight about the time we are living in and which have been prophecized… No worries! A harvest is coming in and out of the Church. Before the time of renewal, rot has to seep out and fall away.
Looks good and peaceful. Of course there’s not a soul around.
That’s the big problem: a soulless society, the dream of every catholic architect 🙂
That is contrasting!🤔
Tell me more about the architect.

Moderne manier om corona buiten te sluiten 🙂 . Zou het niet moeten hebben op die manier!

Vooral een levenshouding denk ik. Of die neergehaald wordt, weet het niet…
