Ik wist het!! Achter mijn lodderige ogen schuilt een high tech sophisticated staafjes-kegeltjes system, dat nog feilloos werkt…….vooral als ik naar vrouwen kijk….vreemd
Hi Christa, thanks for your reply. Although I don’t speak any Afrikaans, I understand every word of it 🙂 It sounds like a poetical interpretation of dutch.
That is an interesting point of view. Afrikaans developed from Dutch and other languages in South Africa the language. And I do understand Dutch. we had to learn some of it at University, but I understand it because of Afrikaans.
Do you know your name ‘van Staden’ refers to a village nearby? One of your ancestors may have been Flemish, if you can believe the etymology. http://www.staden.be
Yes, we understand that our surname (husband’s side) refers to coming from Staden. But we are since always in South Africa. I was a Fourie, and that seems to be a surname from our French ancestors who came to the Cape of Good Hope. My mom was Tempelhof, and her ancestors were from Germany, the story is that the Tempelhof airport in Germany was built with their money, but I do not know. Just interesting that our roots are in Europe.
Is dat je kleindochter? De ogen van Katrien?
Ja hoor, met alles er op en eraan.

Pragtig, ek stem saam. Ek kan ongelukkig nie jou taal praat nie, maar ek sien dit is baie naby aan my taal. Afrikaans.

It is so interesting, thanks for the link!
I know the lord mayor of Staden, a young man, hairdresser and member of the House of Parliaments. But I doubt if he’d speak any Afrikaans 🙂
No, he won’t be able to. Afrikaans is a South Africn language, developed there.
