Not quite sure about the quote… La forme plus que le fond? (I don’t know how to translate “fond” into english. Yes, light, lines, etc. are important. But would there be literature without plot or characters or situations? The latter would be a modern French novel… 😉
Le fond = the background.
Je suis convaincu que le contexte a au moins la même importance que le suject. Pourquoi pas quitter la doctrine d’un suject obligatoire? On fait cela pas seulement à la litérature française contemporaine…
